Allan G. BenseChairman of the Board / Partner Currently serving as President of GAC Contractors, Allan has been involved in all facets of the company. On May 17th, 1974 two days after he received his Masters Degree (MBA ) from Florida State University, Allan began working for Mr. Hilton at GAC Contractors. His office then was about 18 feet from where his current office is. That was 42 years ago. Allan served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. He walked away from politics after serving as Speaker of the House from 2004 to 2006. Allan is currently the Chairman of the Board of the James Madison Institute; Chairman of the Board of Gulf Coast Hospital; Past Chairman of the Board of the Florida Chamber of Commerce; Past Chairman of the Board of the Florida Taxation and Budget Reform Commission; Past Chairman of the Board of the Florida Council on Military Base and Mission Support; Past Vice Chairman of Enterprise Florida ( the Governor is the honorary chairman ); past Chairman of the Board of the Bay Economic Development Alliance; Board of Directors- Triumph Gulf Coast, Inc. ( Oversees spending of BP Florida Claim ). Allan married his wife Tonie Johnson Bense in 1975 and they have three children and six grandchildren. |
